Success can only come after you make an effort to try....

Let Me Show You How!

Dollar Tree treats....

I went to the dollar store and got a little crafty checking out the Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel Sites...  I love apothecary jars, but $40 for them, well, I just don't like them that much!  So, I made these.  The two shown, yep - $4 for both....  I made another in the "how - to" picture - if that is what I should even call it...  It was possibly the easiest thing and ANYONE can do it!

All it is, is.....

This, plus....
This! - REALLY!

Now, this holiday Dollar Tree craft demanded assistance (or maybe I should say my assistant demanded to assist!) in order to complete.  It was such a joyful time to spend with my three year old!

So, let's start...

Styrofoam Wreath, check.
4, 15-pack ornaments, check.

3 Year old assistant, CHECK!

YUCK, Not gonna work for this.
Now we're talkin'...

So, after wrapping the wreath in the ribbon, allow your assistant to take the tops of the ornaments off.  Then, separate by color and texture.  So, we had red and gold: sparkles, shiny, and flat.  Flat took a little understanding, but a few into "flat gold" or "flat red" she was giving her momma the "flat" one.

Just get a pattern going and start using a glue gun to stick them on.  Be liberal with the glue, they stick better, faster, enabling you to move on to the next ornament.  You may need to hold them in place a minute so they stick.

At some point, your pattern won't work.  You Others won't notice it in the finished project, so just keep trucking.  At the end of the step, reward your assistant with a treat of some sort - keep her/him motivated! Then create an inner layer, and outer layer, until your wreath looks full and complete.

Use a floral pick to attach the ends of the remaining ribbon to your wreath form and hang in a desired location!  SO easy and SO cute!

A very SPECIAL thanks to my amazing assistant for making this project possible:)

NEXT.....
Well, these aren't really things that you wouldn't know how to do, but this was the most fitting tab to put these pictures in.  Yes, alright, I am being lazy!  Aren't I entitled to that sometimes?  This one is Sophie's upcycled dresser.  Garage sale splurge.  It was $70, BUT in wonderful condition.  YES! I know.  It needs some handles...  But come on, don't you agree its better than before?!

This is a fun little guy too.  I bought the door at the habitat for humanity restore.  We have a small hall and limited on space here.  So, upward was the answer!  It will hold 250 pounds, but some days, it seems like our textbooks weigh more than that!  It was old, yucky so I went to the paint aisle and bought a quart for a dollar.  Then applied some poly (restore too!) and painted the hooks I found there with black spray paint.  Much cheaper than anything I would find new, and much stronger.  Don't forget its character and charm!
